If you’re adding circuits and your main panel is full – or you’re powering a detached space – a subpanel is often the answer. Here’s what it is and when you need one.
What a subpanel does
A subpanel is a smaller breaker panel fed from your main panel. It adds capacity and puts breakers closer to where the power is used.
When you need one
- Your main panel is full and you need more circuits
- You’re finishing a basement or building an addition
- You’re powering a detached garage, workshop, or pool equipment
- You want a dedicated panel for a home office or ADU
What installation involves
We size the subpanel and feeder, run the wiring, and tie it into your main panel – with a permit and inspection. If your main service is undersized, an upgrade may come first.
